6 Cool Bars you must try in Manchester
Our pick of the coolest bars in Manchester right now. From the underground WashHouse to The Ivy. Read about the best spots for a cocktail or two.
The Alchamist, Spinningfields
For: The Theatre.
This cocktail bar & restaurant in the heart of Spinningfields offers some of the best cocktails in Manchester, crafted by in-house mixologists. The dimly lit venue acts as the perfect spot for a dinner date (take a look at the mouth watering menu), or drinks with friends – either way, it offers a little theatre for a special night out.
The Lawn Club, Spinningfields
For: A casual drink.
The Lawn Club can be found in Hardman Square, designed with an alfresco feel, and ‘fixer-upper’ style – this casual venue is the perfect spot for any occasion whether its after work drinks or a night out with friends. With a brand new Pergola, covered in fairy lights, the Lawn Club also offers private pods to enjoy with friends on the terrace. Indulge in cocktails, beer and wine, alongside a menu of antipasti boards and burgers.
The Washhouse, Shudehill
For: An interesting entry.
Although from entry, this may seem like an old school laundrette, it’s far from that. Step through the door in the corner, and find yourself in Washhouse’s elusive bar (yes, very Narnia-esc.) Accessed only after you literally step through the washing machine, you’ll meet a dimly lit, leather-clad bar serving all the quirky cocktails, and a house playlist to match.
The Ivy, Spinningfields
For: An Asian twist.
The West End’s iconic celebrity hotspot, The Ivy, has opened its first Manchester location in Spinningfields. Much like it’s other venues, the spot offers the traditional ‘British summer’ feel setting, offering their classic all day menu. On the second floor, however, expect Ivy Asia, a breathtaking space, illuminated by the green, semi-precious stone floors fit with golden gilded ceilings, lush jade colours and a beautiful pink bar. Their huge roof terrace offers the perfect space for nighttime drinking (don’t worry, fire pits included).
The Dog Bowl
For: Games Night.
The Black Dog family’s third Manchester site, Dog Bowl is a bowling, drinking and dining experience near Manchester’s Oxford Road. The interior is contemporary, with a hint of American dinner – offering all the cocktail classics and fast-food favourites. The kitchen is open until 1am with a bespoke evening menu served from 11pm to cater for late-night snackers. Ideal for a fun night out with friends, the bowling and drinking combination s always a massive hit!
The Liars Lounge, Cane & Grain
For: Tiki Vibes.
The Liars Lounge is a South American inspired bar on the second floor of Cane & Grain, in the Northern Quarter set to suit the desire for a boozy night on the town. The venue really speaks for itself, styled with ‘rum drums’ and neon signs. With a refined, adventurous cocktail list, you can expect the Bone Yard Julep and the Basil & Coconut Smash to hit all the right spots. The food is no less inspiring, with Bacon Popcorn and Dino Beef Ribs.
