4 Best Hotels in Seychelles

/

The Seychelles boasts some of most beautiful views and vistas in the whole world, so it’s no wonder most of the hotel here are ’once in a lifetime trip’ kind of pricey. From an entire private island, to a Four Seasons stay, read about out top picks of Seychelles resorts below.

Fregate Island Private

Fregate Island Private epitomises private island living, elevating the tropical holiday experience to a once in a lifetime stay due to the seclusion, unmatched service and breathtaking setting. The picturesque turquoise waters and white sands of this island can be found east of the mainland, Mahé, reachable in around 20 minutes by helicopter. The island has seven stunning beaches, where guests can watch turtles lay and hatch their eggs (at the right time of year), head to the coral surrounded shores for a day of snorkelling, or even explore old Pirate ruins.

The 16 villas on the island are built into the slopes on one side of Fregate, close to the nearby harbour and restaurant, where meals are cooked with mostly island-grown produce. This is the main hub of the island, while the rest is mostly wild land. The villas are super luxurious, all with private infinity pools, rainfall showers, the latest amenities and even personal butlers to ensure a comfortable stay. They had previously been pretty true to the natural surroundings in terms of styling – but we think that’s about to change (to a degree). The island is currently closed to visitors, under remodelling, due to open in 2024. If this sounds like the island for you, maybe now’s the time to start saving! With prices ranging from £3,000 – £12,000 per night through the year!

North Island Seychelles

Seychelles north island

Set at the far north of an Indian Ocean archipelago, North Island is a small gem, offering luxury ’barefoot living’. The stunning island is another haven for travellers looking for privacy in paradise, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, guests can take time to relax and recharge in one of natures most impressive settings. The island has just 11 villas, to ensure all guests recieve a completely taloired and bespoke experience from beginning to end – with staff working hard to provide a seamless stay. The villas are spacious, with a real indoor-outdoor feel. The surroundings are very much intertwined with the luxury amenities (a whirlpool and open air shower) and comforts of every room, making use of driftwood, roped coral and granite. Villa 11 in particular, offers guests an unparalleled feeling of exclusivity (once George and Amal Clooney’s honeymoon suite), reserved for couples for the ultimate tropical escape.

The island has four beaches, all of which seem untouched, while again, much of the island is covered in tropical forest. The hub of the island ’East Beach Piazza’ hosts a few converted stone buildings including a library, shopping boutique, bar, restaurant and diving centre for all your recreational needs. The ’villa guides’ will be on hand to help any activities or excursion dreams you may have, from hikes with the conservationist to diving and snorkeling in Silhouette’s marine park. With bikes and an electric golf cart available to use throughout your stay, you can explore the island at your own leisure.

Four Seasons Resort, Mahé

Seychelles four seasons
Four seasons Seychelles

Four Seasons is definitely a giant where Seychelles resorts are concerned. The 67 villa complex is set on a steep cliffside on the southwestern side of Mahé, in the bay of Petite Anse. Many opt for a mainland stay due to ease and less travelling (it’s also cheaper than the private islands) but it’s naturally busier than the more secluded locations. Four Seasons however, offers the best of both worlds. Due to the bay, it creates a feeling a privacy and seclusion, with the most private beach setting on the mainland, while still in close proximity to the islands airport (just 35 minutes by car).

The 67 Seychellois villas sit on stilts above the trees to offer incredible views of the turquoise waters and white sands below. Each luxurious and modern in appearance, Four Seasons is less shabby-chic and more opulent in style, with straight edges and modern fixtures. While still providing a sense of jungle living, the villas feel like treehouses, with infinity pools looking out onto golden sunsets, and birds chirping through the night. The 470 strong staff ensure maximum comfort is provided, including a concierge service to plan excursions including island exploring, hiking and diving. The facilities are no less impressive with a beachside infinity pool, two restaurants, two bars, a hilltop spa, gym and water sports centre. Four seasons is also great for families, which may be a deciding factor, offering a large kid’s pool and daytime club.

Six Senses Zil Pasyon

Six senses Seychelles
Seychelles six senses

Six Senses is set on another private island, Félicité, set within the Granitic islands, providing all the tranquility and privacy you could need, in addition to the ability to visit near by islands if your looking for daytime excursions (around 20-40 minutes). Those include the stunning beaches of La Digue, Cocos Island, one of the best snorkeling spots in the Seychelles, and the Curieuse Island, a nature reserve that giant tortoises call home.

The villas range in size, with some more luxurious than others, all set amongst the jungle, and giant granite boulders. The interiors are modern in style, with stone surfaces a key feature, replicating much of the natural environment. Six Senses definitely feels slick and clean cut, standing out from the more obvious driftwood filled spaces of other resorts, with stylish features including floor to ceiling glass windows, swing seats in the bathrooms and submerged sun loungers in the pool. Six Senses has a team of around 150 staff, Guest Experience Maker’s allocated to each villa, helping to create the dream itinerary for each guest. The typical golf carts will be available to transport you from place to place, including the Main House where you’ll be able to drink and dine, the gym, spa and water sports centre.
